You would think that, after the critical acclaim and Oscar-winning success of his last film, the Emma Stone-starring adaptation of the Alasdair Gray novel Poor Things, that Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos would be guaranteed a cinematic release for any of his future projects. However, Lanthimos’ latest offering, Kinds of Kindness, which sees him teaming up again with screenwriter Efthimis Filippou and a host of regular acting collaborators, including Stone and Willem Dafoe, may prove too excruciating, cynical and difficult to stomach for most local audiences — so it’s been sent straight to streaming on Disney Plus with little fanfare or publicity. ..
