The Foundation Laying Ceremony for  Wigwe University Isiokpo University was officiated by His Excellency, Chief Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike GSSRS, Life Bencher, POS Africa, the Executive Governor of Rivers State. In attendance to welcome him were the Executive Chairman of Ikwerre LGA and his team.

Dr. Herbert Wigwe, the Group Managing Director and CEO of Access Bank Plc is establishing Wigwe University, a private institution located in the ancient kingdom of Ikwerre land, Isiokpo, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, Nigeria. The university has a primary focus in science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM) fields, business and social sciences and provides modern infrastructure, including a 500-bed teaching hospital, research centers, sports facilities, and student accommodation.

The establishment of Wigwe University is a significant step towards better education in Nigeria. Its set-up is expected to increase the opportunities for students seeking quality higher education.
